Janet Museveni’s ministry of education has released a comprehensive school calendar for the year 2023 after the sudden closure of this years 3rd term as a result of the ever spreading Ebola virus disease that has since been found among 23 students with 8 succumbing to the killer disease.
According to the school calendar released by the Acting Ministry of Education and sports permanent secretary, first term for pre-primary, primary, secondary, technical/ school farms and community polytechnics will commence 6th February 2023 and end on 5th May 2023.
Second term will begin on Monday May 29th and end on Friday August 25th 2023 , it will also run for 89 days like first term.
However, third term will be a bit shorter with 75 days and will commence on Monday September 18th and end on Friday 01st December 2023.
According to the ministry of education and sports, first term for the Ordinary Level new entrants (Senior one’s), Advanced new entrants (Senior five) reporting dates will be communicated in the due course since that group’s programme depends on the release of national examination results by the Uganda National Examination Board (UNEB).
The ministry further in a statement says the reporting dates for first year for community polytechnics and Technical/ farm schools will be communicated.
