OMORO DECIDES: Top NUP legislator Arrested

Omoro had been represented in parliament for almost 16 years until 20th May when their member of parliament who was also speaker Jacob Oulanyah succumbed to cancer related illnesses according to government despite talks of possible poisoning by is father Mzee Nathan Lokori.

Residents in Omoro to the polls today to decide on who their next member of parliament will be. The race has attracted six candidates which include Andrew Ojok Oulanyah who is late Jacob Oulanyah’s son carrying the NRM flag, FDC’s Justine Odong, NUP’s Toolit Simon Akecha, ANT’s Kiiza Oscar, Onen Jimmy Walter and Odonga Terance who are both independent.

However, the battle lines have been drawn between NRM’s Andrew Ojok Oulanyah and NUP’s Toolit Simon Akecha. Reports coming indicate that Police and Army are arresting people and have arrested Busujju county MP David Lukyamuzi Kalwanga and is reportedly detained at Omoro police station.
