Amina Abiriga, the widow of the late Arua Municipality MP Ibrahim Abiriga, has appealed for a personal meeting with President Museveni, citing the government’s failure to fulfill pledges made after her husband’s assassination in 2018. She says despite promises of support from senior officials following the high-profile killing, her family continues to struggle without the assistance that was assured.

Ibrahim Abiriga, known for his staunch loyalty to the ruling National Resistance Movement and his signature yellow attire, was gunned down alongside his bodyguard, prompting national outrage and presidential pledges of help. Six years on, Amina says those commitments remain unmet and hopes that a direct audience with the president will revive efforts to support her family.
Her renewed appeal highlights broader concerns about delayed or unfulfilled government promises to families of high-profile figures who die in service. Authorities have not yet responded to her request.
